This eye-catching Necklace showcases a very rare type of Turquoise known as Pseudomorph Clam Shells. Found only in limited quantities in several locations in Nevada — including the Candelaria Hills area — these stones are fossilized prehistoric clam shells that have had parts of the clam replaced with Turquoise. The resulting stone is both remarkable and valuable. Our stones display a blend of green, brown and black in unique patterns — each one different from the next. The Turquoise has been shaped as Graduated Oval Nuggets, ranging in length from 12mm to 22mm.
We've blended the Pseudomorph Clam Shell Turquoise with 12mm Pilot Mountain Turquoise Rounds in rich hues of blue-green with golden-brown matrix. The Pilot Mountain (also from Nevada) picks up the green tones in the Clam Shell Turquoise and adds color depth to the Necklace. The Turquoise is complemented by 13mm aqua Czech Glass Faceted Saucers and 7.5mm luminous green Czech Druk Glass Rounds. The Czech Glass is translucent, sparkling in reflected light. Turquoise & Gray Seed Beads are placed between each of the larger elements, creating visual space and design interest. The Turquoise is further highlighted by four 13-by-14mm Sterling Silver Melon Beads, which are both elegant and beautifully crafted. At the top of the Necklace the 2 strands of Turquoise transition to 2 strands of 4 and 6mm Fire Polished Glass Ovals, streamlining the silhouette and ensuring wearer comfort. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Rounds and Hammered Toggle Clasp, and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 180 grams (about 6.5 ounces) and the 2 Necklace strands are each 25 inches long (when wearing, a vertical length of about 10 inches).
