This classy Necklace showcases a Navajo-made Sterling Silver Cross with a vibrant blue Turquoise Oval Stone. The Cross has straight, clean lines and is polished to a sheen; the Turquoise Oval is set in a raised Sterling bezel and is pure blue without matrix. The back of the Cross is stamped “Sterling,” along with an Inuksuk* (or Inukshuk), which is a symbol of survival first used by the Intuit people and later by the Navajo and other Native Americans. We’ve paired the Pendant with graduated rounds of Blue Gem Turquoise (NV), formed from chips of Blue Gem that have been adhered together with resin, then shaped and polished. The Blue Gem Rounds range in diameter from 8-to-18mm, and are integrated with Turquoise Chip, moss green Czech Luster Glass, and six 8mm and 11mm Sterling Silver Rounds. The Necklace is finished with Sterling Silver Rounds and Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Sterling Gecko Charm, a lizard native to the US Southwest that symbolizes self-preservation and re-growth. The Necklace weighs 114 grams and is 21 inches long. The Pendant is 2-5/8 inches tall by 1-5/8 inches wide including a 3/8-inch bail.
* The traditional meaning of the inukshuk is "Someone was here," or "You are on the right path." Inukshuk forms are some of the oldest forms known to mankind. The ancient Inukshuk was a stone sculptural form built from rocks. If you look at the Inukshuk you will note that it is in the likeness of a human. Today the Inukshuk message is, "Everyone can make a difference." Inukshuks symbolize an awareness of our obligation to ourselves, our environment and future generations.
