This outstanding Necklace showcases a Taxco Mexican Silver and Obsidian Locket Pendant handcrafted by Jewelry Artist Rodriguez. Taxco Silver is high-quality, handmade silver from Taxco, Mexico, known for its bold shapes and intricate patterns. This Pendant is no exception, exhibiting both a working locket and an impressive and eye-catching design. The piece is 97.0 percent pure silver, or .970 silver. The oval Gold Sheen Obsidian Stone is set in a raised Silver Bezel and wrapped by 3 sequences of both Silver Twist Wire and Ball Wire. The top of the Taxco Silver Locket base is also ornamented with Silver Twist Wire. The Locket opens smoothly, displaying an all-Silver interior, with just an oval cut-out allowing the back of the Obsidian Stone to be viewed. The Locket is stamped on the back with "Rodriguez," "Taxco Mexican Silver," and "970." The Locket Pendant is 2" wide by 2-7/8" tall by 5/8" deep, including the 1/2" V-Shaped Silver Bail.
We've paired the Pendant with 4 & 5mm Oxidized Sterling Silver Rounds and 3 Strands of Hypersthene Ovals. The Ovals are 8-by-10mm in dimension with some variation, and are a glossy midnight black with iridescence, sparkling in reflected light. The Oxidized Rounds are polished at the center diameter, creating an attractive shine. They are stacked in sets of 3 on either side of the Bail (4mm, 5mm, 5mm), then arranged in 3 groups of 3 along the Necklace strands (all 5mm). At the top of the Necklace the Hypersthene transitions to 4mm antique silver Czech Fire Polished Glass Faceted Ovals, streamlining the silhouette and ensuring a comfortable fit. The Necklace is finished with a Hammered Sterling Silver Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm (not shown). The piece weighs 153 grams (about 5.5 ounces) and is 19-3/4 inches long plus the Pendant.
