This outstanding Necklace showcases a Sterling Silver Bear Pendant by Navajo Jewelry Artist Alonzo Mariano. The Pendant has been created using box construction techniques, producing a hollow, 3D shape with up to a 3/8-inch depth that is impressive in appearance. The front of the Bear is slightly domed, while the back is flat. The Pendant is ornamented with three 12 karat Gold-Filled motifs, including a feather, a tipi (or tent) and a hatchet. The immediate background for these 3 items is textured, providing an attractive contrast. The gleaming gold pairs beautifully with the polished Sterling Silver. There are also oxidized lines etching the face of the Bear, its fur, and a vertical Arrow. The Pendant drapes from a V-Shaped Sterling Silver Bail which has been decoratively stamped. It is stamped on the back with the Artist's hallmark — "A Mariano" — and "Sterling." An impressive and meticulously crafted piece.
We've paired the Bear Pendant with 3 Strands of Cherry Red Jade Rounds. The 6mm Jade is beautifully cut, and polished to a soft sheen. It is integrated with 4mm golden-brown Czech Glass Faceted Bicones and 4mm twilight Czech Fire Polished Glass Faceted Ovals, adding translucency and subtle sparkle to the design. The stones are highlighted by eight 6-by-8mm Hill Tribe Silver Sun-Print Rondelle Beads, which shine along the Necklace strands. At the top of the Necklace the Red Jade transitions to twilight Czech Fire Polished Glass, streamlining the silhouette and ensuring a comfortable fit. The Necklace is finished with a Sterling Silver Toggle Clasp and adorned with a Southwest Designs Sterling Charm. The piece weighs 118 grams and is 19-3/4 inches long plus the Pendant, which is 2-1/2 inches wide by 2-3/8 inches tall including the 7/8-inch Bail.
